Monday 15 November 2010 (0930-1530) at Leeds Trinity University College

  • How do you address the Every Child Matters outcomes that define wellbeing?
  • How is motivation linked to wellbeing and happiness?
  • Do you know how to promote wellbeing actively so that both staff and children benefit?

Discover a new approach to the challenges of wellbeing and creativity that makes a real difference.

This conference will provide delegates with an opportunity to review and share their responses to the emergence of a wellbeing agenda.  Key aspects of the day include:

  • Impact of inequality on schools and the community
  • Definition of wellbeing and its impact on growth and development
  • Strategies to improve wellbeing and their effect on participation and behaviour
  • Strategies that enhance children’s learning
  • Social culture and educational purpose

Too many children in the UK continue to fail to reach their fullest potential. The implications of disadvantage compound and deepen over time.

However, teachers know that wellbeing promotes participation, social interaction and ultimately gets results.

All agencies that work with children are now required to be much more explicit about how they address inequality through positive strategies that benefit every child.

John West-Burnham is Professor of Educational Leadership at St Mary’s University College.

Laura Chapman is Director of EQuality Training, Huddersfield.

They are joint authors of “Education for Social Justice – Achieving wellbeing for all” (Continuum) (2010)

If you would like to discover some key information and insights that could make a real difference, then come along on 15 November.
